Painter and Decorator

We are seeking a skilled Painter and Decorator to join our team at the Waterloo Catholic District School Board. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for providing painting and finish restoration services in our buildings.
Key Responsibilities:- Apply primer, base coat, and finish coat of finishing products
- Repair and prepare surfaces for product application
- Ensure adequate supplies are ordered for specific jobs and provide estimates on prices and timelines
- Remove furniture and prepare areas for painting by placing drop sheets, setting up scaffolding, fixing holes, sanding, and priming
- Ensure painted areas are in their original state after painting
- Prepare documentation for the transportation of dangerous goods
- Clean painting equipment and drop sheets, remove paint spatter and over-painting areas, remove scaffolding and ladders
- Remove graffiti from non-porous materials and surfaces by painting over or using a removal product, adhering to Board guidelines
- Repair and refurbish wood furniture and equipment by sanding, painting, and varnishing
- Drive to various work sites
- Perform other duties as assigned
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- One to five years of work experience as a painter
- Operation of mixer, power drills, and other tools of the trade
- Hold a valid Class G driver's license with a safe driving record
- Be self-motivated, safety-conscious, have excellent interpersonal and strong organizational skills, verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision
- Have working knowledge of W.H.M.I.S. system and safe handling of hazardous materials
- Basic computer skills required
- Painter and Decorators certificate of qualification is an asset
- $27.25 per hour plus afternoon shift premium in accordance with the UNIFOR Collective Agreement
- Full benefit package and OMERS Pension Plan
- Permanent full-time position with 40 hours per week and 52 weeks per year (Afternoon Shift: 3:15 PM to 11:15 PM)
