Waterfront Leisure Attendant

The Municipality of North Cowichan is a vibrant community located in the beautiful Cowichan Valley on Southern Vancouver Island.

We are seeking a self-motivated Aquatic Attendant to join our team at the Cowichan Aquatic Centre on a casual basis. If you enjoy both responsibility and accountability, and thrive in an inclusive and environmentally conscious environment, we look forward to receiving your application.

This position provides the public with an enjoyable and safe aquatic opportunity through the operation of the waterslides, assisting or leading aquatic programs or activities, and performing custodial duties.

Key responsibilities include:

1. Assisting in the delivery of innovative aquatic programs, services, and events
2. Ensuring facility standards are met while working towards excellence in the operation of the Aquatic Centre
3. Requisitioning supplies, materials, and equipment in a timely fashion
4. Working weekends, evenings, statutory holidays, and shift work as required

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of water rescue, safety, and prevention, as well as excellent communication skills. They must also be able to receive and implement directions, manage competing priorities, and work independently as well as under supervision.

A medical certificate may be required to ensure the candidate can perform all duties associated with the position. The successful candidate will be required to undergo a Vulnerable Sector screening check and a Police Information Check.

We offer a competitive hourly rate of $18-$22 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
