About the RoleThis is a Part-Time Registered Nurse position working within our specialty-qualified emergency team at Eagle Ridge Hospital in Port Moody, BC. You will assess patients, collect information, and provide nursing care to patients in an emergency department.
Responsibilities- Assess patients and gather relevant information from various sources.
- Collaborate with patients and their families/caregivers to develop personalized care plans.
- Participate in the care and discharge planning process for patients upon admission.
- Coordinate nursing care for patients.
- Collaborate with members of the interprofessional care team.
- Teach patients and families/caregivers about illness prevention, health restoration, and health maintenance.
- Document assessments, nursing diagnoses, observations, interventions, patient/family responses, outcomes/evaluations, and referrals.
- Contribute to research and quality improvement activities.
- Act as a preceptor or mentor to assigned new nursing staff and students.
- Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Completion of applicable postgraduate coursework in emergency nursing or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in emergency nursing.
- Ability to complete initial and ongoing patient assessment.
- Effective communication skills to interact with patients, families/caregivers, the public, medical staff, and members of the interprofessional care team.
- Ability to promote person-centered care.
- Ability to integrate and evaluate data from multiple sources.
- Ability to teach and instruct patients and families/caregivers.
