About the Opportunity

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a highly skilled Occupational Therapist to join our team. As an Occupational Therapist, you will work collaboratively with clients, caregivers, and family members to facilitate, restore, and maintain optimal levels of function in areas of self-care, productivity, and leisure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide consultation, assessment, treatment, evaluation, and follow-up services to clients in hospital, home, and community settings.
  • Establish individualized treatment plans and goals in collaboration with clients, caregivers, and family members.
  • Manage a busy caseload and prioritize issues using clinical judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Provide education and support to clients, families, and caregivers.
  • Contribute to the clinical education of occupational therapy students and related health disciplines.
About You

We are looking for a qualified Occupational Therapist with the following qualifications:

  • Graduate of a C.A.O.T. recognized School of Occupational Therapy.
  • Licensed with the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia (COTNS).
  • Two years of relevant experience required.
  • Maintain current certification in CPR.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Diagnostic & Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM).
  • Counselling skills required.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting individual and group treatment.
  • Ability to reach a joint formulation with the client and family.
  • Familiarity with various psychotherapeutic approaches.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective time management and disciplined self-organization.
  • Awareness of local community resources and agencies an asset.
Hours and Compensation

This is a permanent full-time position with a 75-hour biweekly schedule. The hourly rate is $33.97 - $42.89.
