Job Summary:
The Underwriting Consultant is responsible for assessing the risk of insurance applications and making informed decisions to ensure the accuracy and fairness of underwriting mortality and morbidity. This role requires advanced critical thinking, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, as well as a strong command of data and analytics.
Key Responsibilities:- Medical/Non-Medical/Financial Underwriting:
- Assess the underwriting risk for new business applications, policy changes, and special requests.
- Review and analyze medical and non-medical information to determine the level of risk.
- Make informed decisions based on sound judgment and industry guidelines.
- AML (Anti-Money Laundering) Risk Framework:
- Assess the risk of money laundering and terrorist financing in insurance applications.
- Review and analyze client information to identify potential risks.
- Make recommendations to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Reinsurance Negotiations:
- Negotiate with reinsurers to obtain the best possible terms and conditions.
- Review and analyze reinsurance decisions to ensure they are fair and reasonable.
- Make recommendations to improve reinsurance agreements and reduce risk.
- Risk Management:
- Assess and manage risk associated with insurance applications and policies.
- Develop and implement risk management strategies to minimize losses and ensure compliance with regulations.

- Education: Undergraduate degree in a relevant field.
- Experience: 5-10 years of experience in an underwriting environment.
- Knowledge: Advanced knowledge of underwriting principles, AML regulations, and reinsurance agreements.
- Skills: Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Competitive Salary: $68,000 - $126,000 per year.
