Drywall Installation and Finishing Job Description

Nexgen Drywall Ltd is seeking a skilled Drywall Installation and Finishing professional to join our team. As a Drywall Installation and Finishing expert, you will be responsible for installing and finishing drywall to create smooth, even surfaces for interior and exterior applications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine work requirements
  • Prepare tenders and quotations for drywall installation and finishing projects
  • Supervise and train other workers on drywall installation and finishing techniques
  • Apply, level, and smooth coats of plaster to create a smooth surface
  • Clean and prepare surfaces for drywall installation
  • Cure freshly plastered surfaces to ensure a strong bond
  • Fabricate and install suspended metal ceiling grids and place in panels to form acoustical and coffered ceilings
  • Fill joints, nail indentations, holes, and cracks with joint compound using a trowel and broad knife
  • Finish corners and angles and create decorative designs in the finish coat, if required
  • Measure, cut, fit, and install drywall sheets to create a smooth surface
  • Mix plaster ingredients to the desired consistency
  • Mould and install ornamental plaster panels, cornices, and trim
  • Position and secure sheets to metal or wooden studs or joists
  • Smooth out excess compound and allow the coat to dry
  • Spray acoustic or texture materials over walls and ceilings
  • Tape over joints using a taping machine and embed tape in compound
  • Trowel or spray coats of stucco over exteriors of buildings to form weatherproof surfaces
  • Attach metal or gypsum lath to studs or furring
  • Cut openings in lath for heating and ventilation piping, ducts, and electrical outlets
  • Install corner beads and wire mesh around beams to which plaster is to be applied
  • Install metal stud framing and furring for interior drywall or plaster walls and ceilings, using hand and power tools
  • Install vapour barriers and thermal and sound insulation
  • Prepare wall and ceiling layouts
  • Utilize laser alignment systems
  • Estimate costs and materials for drywall installation and finishing projects
  • Work at heights, on scaffolding, or swing stages
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities:
  • This job is physically demanding and requires working at heights, on scaffolding, or swing stages
