Literacy Resource Teacher

The Literacy Resource Teacher will provide expert guidance and support to teachers and students in improving literacy pedagogy and student outcomes. This role will focus on mentoring, resourcing, and expertise in literacy instruction, with a focus on student tracking and demonstrating best practices.
Key Responsibilities- Provide advice and support to teachers on best practice teaching methods to increase student expectations and performance.
- Work with teachers and parents to identify key skills and strategies for improving literacy and student performance in reading and writing.
- Assist classroom teachers in addressing literacy learning for students with reading and writing difficulties.
- Develop and implement literacy materials and assessments with teachers.
- Support school improvement plans by facilitating professional development and training programs in literacy.
- Network and collaborate with other Literacy Resource Teachers to share best practices and expertise.
A valid Teacher Certificate from a province in Canada equivalent to an O.T.C. B.A., B.S., B. Ed. or other university degree. Additional qualifications preferred include Reading Specialist, FNMI Peoples, and knowledge of Anishnaabe language and culture.
