Director of Finance

Flare is a rapidly growing cybersecurity Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) organization with a mission to empower organizations to take control of their data and protect their customers, employees, and brand by shedding light on external threats. We enable cybersecurity teams to proactively detect high-risk external exposure across the dark and clear web, before threat actors have a chance to leverage it. We unify the core functionalities of cyber threat intelligence and external attack surface management into a single, intuitive platform.

As the Director of Finance, you will play a pivotal role in establishing and scaling our financial operations. Your work will ensure that we remain financially healthy and compliant as we grow.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Accounting & Compliance: Own all accounting operations including billing, payroll, financial reporting, tax and compliance with federal and local regulations.
  • Financial Reporting & Insights: Prepare comprehensive and accurate financial reports for the board and investors, offering insights into company performance, financial health, and key metrics.
  • Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A): Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning. Develop models that provide insights into company performance and inform strategic decisions.
  • Collaboration & Cross-functional Support: Work closely with leaders across the business, providing financial guidance and partnering with teams to identify opportunities for growth and efficiency.
  • Tools & Processes Setup: Develop and maintain financial tools and systems, such as QuickBooks and expense management solutions, ensuring the seamless operation of finance processes.
  • Sales Deal Support: Assist Sales with tax, invoicing, and contract terms to close deals smoothly. Build processes to streamline sales-to-finance workflows for efficient billing and revenue recognition.

Over time, your role will expand to include strategic financial leadership and developing a top-tier finance team, contributing to long-term financial planning and ensuring we are well-positioned for future growth.

Requirements:
  • Montreal-Based and Bilingual: Proficiency in both French and English will help interact with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • CPA Certified & Experienced: You are a CPA with a proven track record (4+ years) in finance and accounting, ideally within a SaaS or tech environment.
  • Hands-on & Tools Proficient: You have experience with QuickBooks and have implemented or managed other financial tools for expense management and reporting.
  • Built Finance from the Ground Up: You have experience building a finance function from scratch, designing and optimizing financial processes to support business growth.
  • International Business Savvy: You understand international business structures, including taxes, transfer pricing, and cross-border transactions.
  • Cash Flow & Compliance Expert: You have deep knowledge of managing cash flow and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and financial regulations.
  • Collaborative Leader: You are comfortable working closely with leaders across all departments, offering financial insights that drive business decisions.
  • Strong Communicator: You can translate complex financial information into clear, actionable insights for non-finance team members.
