Assistant Nurse Manager Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Assistant Nurse Manager to join our team at SE Health. As a key member of our nursing department, you will play a vital role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality resident care and supporting the overall success of our facility.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Wellness Manager in implementing and evaluating quality improvement initiatives, risk management systems, and data collection and analysis.
  • Take the lead in coordinating and implementing best practice and risk management initiatives related to resident care.
  • Provide operational direction to staff and provide clinical expertise as required.
  • Effectively manage the utilization of nursing supplies and facilitate smooth admission, discharge, and patient transfer processes.
  • Coordinate resident care through active leadership and participation in resident interfaces, including care conferences and committees.
  • Maintain a system of care assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation at the resident and unit program level.
  • Initiate investigative and corrective actions related to occupational health and safety and develop modified work programs for nursing staff.
  • Work collaboratively with the Wellness Manager on special projects and assume responsibility for the nursing department in their absence.
Requirements:
  • RN or LPN with current registration in good standing with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses (CLPNA) or College of Registered Nurses (CRNA).
  • Minimum of three years' experience in a facility care setting.
  • Previous management experience an asset.
  • Certification in gerontological nursing an asset.
  • Current knowledge of clinical issues for geriatric residents, infection control, principles of adult education, and quality improvement.
  • Demonstrated leadership, management, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, and computerized resident care and assessment programs.
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation, current nursing and healthcare practices.
  • Current Vulnerable Sector Check and Criminal Record Check with acceptable results.
