Position Summary

The Refrigeration Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient operation and maintenance of refrigeration equipment. This includes regular checks to ensure optimal performance, identifying issues promptly, and implementing effective solutions.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Temperature Control Specialist.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead by example in maintaining a culture of safety, adhering to regulatory requirements, and promoting continuous improvement within the department.
  • Perform daily inspections on refrigeration equipment, identify areas for improvement, and implement repairs or adjustments as needed.
  • Tour the warehouse regularly to ensure it remains safe and conducive to operations.
  • Develop and maintain preventative maintenance programs to minimize disruptions to warehouse activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment performance and propose recommendations for upgrades or new equipment to improve efficiency.
  • Monitor and adjust equipment settings to optimize energy consumption and reduce costs.
  • Operate various warehouse management systems, including CMMS and computerized refrigeration control systems.
  • Ensure compliance with established safety protocols, contamination prevention procedures, and housekeeping policies to prevent injuries and maintain product quality.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Operating Engineer and General Manager to develop strategies for improving efficiency and meeting customer needs.
  • Participate in other initiatives, projects, and duties as assigned.

Key Requirements:

  • A minimum of 1 year of related work experience, preferably in building repairs and general maintenance duties.
  • Familiarity with ammonia refrigeration systems.
  • Possession of a valid 5th Class Power Engineer or Refrigeration Operator Ticket.
  • Knowledge of provincial regulations regarding operating engineering, refrigeration, elevating devices, building and fire code, local bylaws, environmental, labor, and health and safety legislation.
  • Ability to work in temperatures below -30°C.
