Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Manager to join our team at Trinity Western University. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with projects that fall within the operations of the Facility Services department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with project planning, development, and management functions involving technical, contractual, planning, supervisory, and financial activities in support of capital project delivery.
  • Develop scope of work, review fee proposals, coordinate activities of architects, consultants, contractors, and liaise with university personnel.
  • Exercise considerable independence of judgment and action in order to maintain project budgets and schedules for several projects simultaneously.
  • Monitor facilities space use and prepare recommendations to increase utilization through both operational changes and renovations.
  • Complete space planning and interior designing for space modifications including scheduling, quoting, bidding, field inspection, and final check for completion of projects.
  • Provide expertise and assistance to the TWU staff in determining space layouts to optimize space utilization.
  • Initiate innovative approaches to improve both space utilization and the overall working and learning environment at the University.
  • Participate in a consultative process with facility users, designers, and appropriate administrators during the planning phase of projects.
  • Maintain record management for TWU facilities, contractors, and vendors.
  • Establish and maintain digital and physical files including asset listing, drawings, inventory of furniture assets.
  • Ensure that all necessary documentation for the proper maintenance of campus equipment and buildings is catalogued.
  • Review and process departmental invoices to TWU Accounts Payable.
  • Help coordinate work orders.
  • Take minutes in meetings, keep track of tasks to be done.
  • Liaise with stakeholders regarding moves and assist with logistics.
  • Measure and photograph.
  • Drive the commissioning process ensuring what was designed and paid for was constructed.
  • Interpret and comply with codes, regulations, bylaws, and all applicable legislation relating to the facilities.
  • In conjunction with the Facility Services Team and the Capital Projects team, develop standards for facilities renovations.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities.

Requirements

  • Business or related degree preferred and/or related work experience.
  • PMP credential preferred.
  • Formal training in project management or procurement an asset.
  • Professional certification such as FMA, CFM, PEng, MCIP, MAIBC, or AScTT.
  • 3-4 years in a progressive administrative or analytical support role, preferably within the construction, facility management, or education sector.
  • Project Management experience preferred.
