Key Responsibilities- Strategic Planning: Design and implement business strategies to drive the organization forward, aligning with our risk-adjusted return objectives.
- Operational Effectiveness: Establish, evaluate, and enhance operational effectiveness, including operational compliance and controls.
- Risk Management: Monitor changes in the portfolio's risk profile and investigate material shifts in risk.
- Relationship Management: Manage relationships with third-party providers, including the school custodian and data management provider, to ensure accurate entries in accounting and performance measurement systems.
- Due Diligence: Manage operational due diligence, contracts, and collect and execute relevant documents.
- Performance Measurement: Oversee and refine performance measurement and risk management systems.
- Reporting: Develop and enhance reporting tools to facilitate investment management and asset allocation selection processes.
- Technology Implementation: Collaborate with the Chief Technology Officer to implement information technology solutions and tools that support operations and investment decision-making.
- Financial Management: Work closely with the Finance Department to manage the annual audit, budgeting, and rating agency reporting.
- Team Management: Manage and develop the investment operations team, providing leadership, guidance, and support to enhance talent.
- Education: Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 10 years of related experience required.
- Preferred Qualifications: Advanced degree strongly desirable, with extensive working knowledge and demonstrated progressive experience of at least 15 years in investment or education operations, with a focus on endowment management, asset management, finance, or related areas.
- Skills: Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and adapt their style with a variety of stakeholders and audiences.
- Technical Skills: Strong critical thinking skills, a high degree of intellectual curiosity, and a desire to take on greater responsibilities and serve as an integral member of the leadership team.
- Leadership: Demonstrated success in working autonomously and collaboratively in a demanding environment, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines for short, long, and ad-hoc assignments.
Garden River First Nation Education Unit offers a competitive salary range of $350k-$400k per year, as well as a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for professional growth and development.
