Job Summary:

Brandt is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Technician to join our team in Winnipeg. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing diagnostics, maintenance, and repair work on customer and dealer-owned equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently perform basic and complex diagnostics, service maintenance, and repair work on customer and dealer-owned equipment.
  • Resolve customer issues in a timely and satisfactory manner.
  • Work within budgets and approvals provided by the Service Manager.
  • Maintain a high level of productivity, efficiency, and gross margin.
  • Ensure a quality of work metric of 98%.

Work Systems and Procedures:

  • Accurately record all work done for customer and warranty records.
  • Maintain current product knowledge of equipment specific to industry/branch location.
  • Maintain a clean work area and perform work in a neat and orderly manner.
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments.
  • Ensure knowledge and compliance of proper procedure for disposal of hazardous waste material.
  • Work within the guidelines set by the directors and managers.
  • Perform all service tasks as assigned by the Material Handling Service Manager or the Material Handling Service Department Foreman.
  • Participate in Service Training programs required for the development of skills and knowledge.

Diagnostic and Mechanical, Electrical, or Hydraulic Repair:

  • Perform basic and complex power equipment diagnostics to determine repair needs.
  • Diagnose and repair all related systems.
  • Perform customer, manufacturer, or government inspections on equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment.
  • Utilize drill presses, grinders, air compressors, and common hand/power tools to perform preventive maintenance and repairs.

Required Skills:

  • Outstanding knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic systems, and propane systems.
  • Demonstrated diagnostic skills to understand mechanical and electrical systems of battery and engine-powered material handling equipment.
  • Experience with the use of hand tools and measuring devices, and electrical/electronic diagnostic tools/measurements.
  • Knowledge and experience with industrial equipment that includes lifting/rigging, maintaining, dismantling, and installing machinery and industrial mechanical service equipment.
  • Strong time-management skills to perform effectively under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills, showing an appreciation of customer needs.
