Video Journalist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Video Journalist to join our dynamic team at Rogers Sports & Media. As a key member of our City News team, you will be responsible for creating engaging and informative video content for our audience.
Responsibilities- Pitch and develop fresh, original story ideas that capture the attention of our viewers.
- Shoot, edit, report, and present news stories on all platforms, including continuous posting to our website, social media, and other digital channels.
- Organize material and write engaging, relevant, and concise news stories under tight deadlines, adhering to our editorial style and format standards.
- Present scripted and unscripted coverage live on-air and on other media platforms from remote locations and/or in-studio environments.
- Generate compelling story ideas and knowledgeable contacts, and respond quickly and accurately to breaking news situations.
- Produce high-quality, engaging multimedia content that resonates with our audience.
- Post to digital channels throughout the day and write articles for web content.
- Stay up-to-date with social media trends and leverage them to generate stories and ideas.
- Proven experience generating powerful, credible original content.
- Proven experience operating a video camera and editing to deadlines.
- Relevant degree or diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution.
- A strong understanding of the cultural and political landscape of the city.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proven ability to work well in a team environment.
- Ability to multi-task, deliver great content under tight deadlines, and work well under pressure.
- Ability to be flexible in a changing work environment.
- Ability to consistently generate original content ideas.
- Must be available to work evenings and weekends.
- On-air experience and live presentation experience.
- Must be bilingual (English and French spoken and written).
