Utility Accounting Intern

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Utility Accounting Intern to join our team at CAPREIT. As a key member of our Accounting team, you will be responsible for managing and validating utility data, processing utility bills, and generating monthly financial reports.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process utility bills and review batches for accuracy
  • Validate property addresses, invoice amounts, and rate charges
  • Liaise with utility companies on late payment charges and billing issues
  • Manage utility data, including generating monthly files and coordinating with the Property Accounting team
  • Assist in developing internal reporting and quarterly reports
  • Reconcile annual utility contracts and validate volumes for renewing contracts
  • Coordinate the receiving of monthly accrual files and complete a first-level review of the data against budgeted values

Requirements:

  • In-progress or completed College diploma or University degree in Accounting or Business
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines, multi-task, and prioritize
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Excel
  • SAP experience is an asset
