Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Strategic Systems Design Lead to join our team in Toronto. As a key member of our rail signaling department, you will be responsible for leading the design and development of complex communication-based train control systems.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have a strong background in systems engineering and experience in leading cross-functional teams. They will be responsible for analyzing customer requirements, developing system designs, and ensuring compliance with technical specifications. Additionally, they will lead the team in performing system design activities, managing budgets and schedules, and collaborating with stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions on time.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze customer requirements and develop system designs that meet technical specifications
  • Lead the team in performing system design activities, including modeling and simulation
  • Manage budgets and schedules, ensuring timely delivery of projects
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure system designs meet customer needs
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Systems, Electrical, Computer), Computer Science, or a closely related field
  • 8-12 years' experience in systems engineering development of software-based system applications
  • Strong knowledge of modern systems engineering practices, methods, and tools
  • Senior level expertise in URS (Urban Rail Signaling) Systems-Minimum 7 years on/or similar system complexity
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in leading a group of technical resources
Preferred Qualifications

Experience in using DOORS, Polarion, Melody advance, or other system design and requirement management tools, or Work Package Management. Strong Application (automated train control systems) domain knowledge & knowledge of systems engineering principles and practices.
