Job Description

ATS Automation is seeking a skilled Automation Designer to join our Life Sciences Systems team. As an Automation Designer, you will work with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement automation solutions for our clients. Your primary responsibility will be to design and develop automation systems that meet the customer's process requirements, ensuring that all specifications are achieved.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop automation systems that meet customer requirements
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications and test plans
  • Collaborate with customers to understand their process requirements and develop solutions that meet their needs
  • Conduct site visits to understand customer processes and identify opportunities for automation
  • Develop and implement automation concepts, including those for critical processes and systems
  • Perform hands-on testing of designed apparatus to mitigate technical risks
  • Develop and lead a mitigation strategy for potentially high-risk elements of the system

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary engineering degree in Systems, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, Physics, Software, or equivalent
  • Experience with automation, motion controls, robotics, vision systems, engineering research and development or testing
  • Hands-on experience with automated systems or machine tools, simulations and modeling, structured problem solving, and statistical analysis
  • Good written and oral communication skills and an ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary project team
