Design and Implement Innovative Mechanical Solutions

At DIALOG-Design, we're seeking an experienced Intermediate Mechanical Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you'll have the opportunity to design and develop innovative mechanical solutions for our clients.

About the Role

  • Manage and coordinate documentation from schematic design to construction documents
  • Design HVAC, plumbing, fire protection systems, and heating and cooling systems for commercial and institutional buildings
  • Work collaboratively with architects, interior designers, structural engineers, and electrical engineers to create integrated design solutions
  • Manage high-quality contract documents for HVAC, plumbing, and drainage, fire protection, and controls systems
  • Conduct energy modeling, building information modeling, value engineering, and life cycle costing to determine optimal mechanical system solutions
  • Perform engineering studies, including analysis, condition assessments, and renewal planning, and present findings in written technical reports and presentations
  • Carry out day-to-day project management and maintain internal design standards
  • Deliver technically sound and thorough mechanical solutions in an integrated environment
  • Develop innovative mechanical systems that drive sustainability, decarbonization, resilience, and wellbeing
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior staff members

Requirements

  • Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology
  • Registered professional with building code stamping authority (preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience with HVAC, plumbing, and drainage, fire protection systems, heating and cooling systems for commercial and institutional buildings
  • LEED accreditation (considered an asset)
  • Experience with BIM software (Revit) and demonstrated experience in sustainable design practices
  • Strong understanding and experience with schematic design, design development, contract documents, and contract administration
  • Experience with performing load calculations, detailed design calculations, psychrometrics, and equipment selections
  • Experience with engineering studies and condition assessments
  • Experience in specification writing and strong verbal and written communication skills
