About the Position

We are seeking an experienced educator to join our team as a Sessional Instructor for the Health Care Assistant Certificate program at North Island College. This is a great opportunity to share your knowledge and skills with students and contribute to their success.

Job Description

Teaching Responsibilities:

  • Plan and prepare learning materials for instructional environments
  • Use various approaches and materials to address different learning needs
  • Teach in assigned subject areas and include required subject matter or skill activity in courses and course outlines
  • DIRECT student learning in a positive, supportive, and caring environment
  • Be available to students regularly during scheduled office hours and classroom hours to discuss their progress and other issues that influence their learning

Professional Duties:

  • Aware of and work within College educational policies
  • Contribute to the development of College education plans and assist in achieving its goals and objectives
  • Advise the Department Chair on items that need to be ordered so that inventories of books, supplies, and equipment are adequate for the courses taught
  • Participate actively as a contributing member of the College community on College committees and other College-wide activities, where appropriate

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Practical Nursing credential or BSN degree
  • Two years' experience teaching adults, preferably at the post-secondary level
  • Work experience in gerontics
  • Extensive experience working with Older Adults
  • Current registration with BCCNM (inclusive of Criminal Record)

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range for this position is $65,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, as well as access to a pension plan.
