We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Vision Teacher to join our team at the Vancouver Board of Education. As a Vision Teacher, you will work with students who are blind or partially sighted, providing them with the support and resources they need to succeed.
Job Summary:This is an itinerant position that requires the teacher to work with students in various settings, including the Vision Resource Centre and schools. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of visual impairment and be able to adapt strategies and materials to meet the needs of students.
Responsibilities:- Provide instruction and support to students who are blind or partially sighted
- Work with staff in schools and other professionals in the field to develop and implement individualized plans for students
- Consult with parents and guardians to ensure that students receive the support they need
- Stay up-to-date with the latest research and best practices in visual impairment
- Bachelor of Education
- Master's Degree in Visual Impairment
- Competency in Braille codes
- Working knowledge of eye conditions and the impact on learning needs of visually impaired students
- Comprehensive understanding of adaptive technology
- Ability to adapt strategies, techniques, and materials needed to support visually impaired students
- BC Teaching Certificate (TRB)
- Registration with the Teacher Qualification Service (TQS)
