We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Halton Healthcare. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our healthcare organization.
Key Responsibilities- Operate, monitor, and maintain life support equipment, including invasive and non-invasive ventilators and anaesthetic gas machines.
- Perform diagnostic testing, including spirometry and arterial blood gases, to assess patient respiratory function.
- Initiate, monitor, and discontinue oxygen therapy as needed to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Respond to cardiac arrest codes and high-risk births to provide airway maintenance and resuscitation.
- Perform intubation as ordered by physicians to ensure patient safety and comfort.
- Teach patients and staff on respiratory care techniques and protocols to promote knowledge and skill development.
- Participate in departmental quality assurance activities to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practices.
- Comply with occupational health and safety requirements to maintain a safe work environment.
- Current registration with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario.
- Current Heart & Stroke approved Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Requires 3 years of experience in critical care.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Certification (NRP) required.
- ACLS certification required.
- Minimum of 3 years of acute care experience required for Milton and Georgetown positions.
- Experience working effectively in a busy clinical environment.
- Computer literacy (Microsoft Office).
- Excellent leadership and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Able to establish positive and supportive relationships with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
- Ability to work effectively as a collaborative member of the critical care team.
- Able to meet the physical demands of the position.
- Satisfactory attendance and employment record required.
