Job Summary

Oyster Freight Services Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Bookkeeping Specialist to join our team. As a Bookkeeping Specialist, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger.
  • Financial Statement Preparation: Prepare and review financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Accounting Standards Compliance: Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations, including GAAP and tax laws.
  • Payroll and Benefits Administration: Calculate and prepare cheques for payroll, maintain employee benefits records, and ensure compliance with employment laws.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and review financial reports, including trial balance, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
  • Account Reconciliation: Reconcile accounts, including bank statements, credit card statements, and other financial accounts.
Requirements
  • Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years.
  • Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting.
  • Skills: Proficiency in accounting software, MS Excel, and MS Office. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
Working Conditions
  • Work Environment: Fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and overtime required.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to work in a office environment with frequent computer use and minimal physical demands.
