Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with experience in orthopaedic nursing to join our team at VCH. As an LPN in this role, you will work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality patient care and support the Registered Nurse in caring for patients with unpredictable outcomes or where the acuity or complexity of care requires an advanced level of knowledge and skill beyond the scope of practice for Licensed Practical Nurses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document client care.
  • Work independently and collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary care team.
  • Provide support to clients and their families.
  • Follow decision support tools and casts fractures of a bone with orders when a medical practitioner or nurse practitioner is available.
  • Maintain and advance clinical competence pursuant to the standards of practice of BCCNM for Licensed Practical Nurses.
Qualifications
  • Graduation from a recognized program for Licensed Practical Nurses, plus successful completion of recognized, formal post-basic education in advanced orthopedics for LPNs.
  • Current practicing registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
Salary

The salary range for this position is CAD $32.84/Hr. - CAD $41.35/Hr.

About the Role

This is a casual position, working on an as-needed basis. The hours of work, including days off and work area, may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.
