Our Team
We are a diverse and talented group of workers at Aecon, committed to identifying, attracting, and hiring the best candidates to join our Cambridge Fabrication Shop team. As a Metal Trades Worker, you will become a member of the United Association union local 527.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply coatings using conventional, airless, and plural equipment.
- Prepare materials for spray application, including masking, sanding, and cleaning.
- Read and understand drawings and dimensions.
- Follow coating technical data sheet specifications.
- Use wet film and dry film gauges.
- Familiarize yourself with various coatings, including zincs, epoxies, polyurethanes, and more.
- Operate hand and power tools of all types.
- Handle materials using forklifts, overhead cranes, buggies, and carts.
- Receive and identify incoming materials.
- Clean and prepare shop areas.
- Assist other craft workers.
- Be willing to learn new skills, as Aecon provides training for this position.
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Fall Arrest is an asset.
- WHMIS Certification is an asset.
- Overhead Crane Training is an asset.
- Forklift Training is an asset.
- Heavy lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to use stairs and ladders.
- Ability to work extended hours when required, occasionally in outdoor weather conditions.
- Flexibility to work various shifts.
