Baseperson I

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to fill the role of Baseperson I in our Winter Works Period team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient flow of communications within a geographic area of the province.
Your primary accountabilities will include monitoring weather conditions, updating the electronic Road Condition Reporting System (511), and maintaining daily log records of all winter maintenance activities. You will also be responsible for dispatching equipment operators to proper plow routes and providing support through radio contact and AVL technology.
In addition to your technical skills, you will possess excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. You will be a self-motivated individual with a strong work ethic and a commitment to delivering high-quality results.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor weather conditions and update the electronic Road Condition Reporting System (511)
- Maintain daily log records of all winter maintenance activities
- Dispatch equipment operators to proper plow routes
- Provide support through radio contact and AVL technology
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Some High School and two (2) years of related experience in a dispatch or customer experience environment
- Experience around heavy equipment and construction, including the use of TMR/operational radio systems
- Familiarity with computer applications, including Windows, internet, word processing, spreadsheets, data entry, and email applications
- Knowledge of the geographical area to respond effectively to staff and public inquiries
