Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Residential Counselor - Youth Justice Specialist to join our team. This role will involve working closely with our clients to provide guidance and support in achieving their personal goals, while fostering a safe and healthy work environment.

About the Role

This position is responsible for providing residential services and programs for males aged 12-17 who are in detention awaiting court or serving a period of custody as prescribed by the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to work well under pressure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized support and supervision to clients
  • Facilitate group sessions on life skills, social skills, and community integration
  • Collaborate with community partners and referral sources to ensure seamless service delivery
  • Maintain accurate records and reports, adhering to organizational policies and procedures

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A post-secondary diploma/degree in the Social Services field, preferably in Child and Youth Work or Youth Justice
  • Valid First Aid and CPI certifications
  • At least one year of recent work experience in services/programs for males aged 12-17, working with youth who have been in the criminal system
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adjust communication levels to suit different individuals
  • A valid Driver's License or G1, committed to achieving G-2 or G-full within a 2-year period

Estimated Salary

The estimated salary for this role is $43,971 per annum, based on a 35-hour workweek and a competitive hourly rate of $22.71.
