Job Title: Journeyman Welder

We are seeking a skilled Journeyman Welder to join our team at MatrixHR. As a Journeyman Welder, you will be responsible for performing a variety of welding tasks, including reading blueprints, operating welding equipment, and adhering to strict safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Read and interpret blueprints, welding process specifications, and welding symbols to ensure accurate and efficient welding processes.
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW), and Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW).
  • Remove welds using the Air Arc Gouging process to ensure high-quality welds.
  • Accurately complete time sheets, weight sheets, hazard analysis sheets, and other required documentation to maintain accurate records.
Requirements:
  • 3+ years of work experience in welding.
  • Interprovincial Trade Certification.
  • Specialization in structural construction welding is considered an asset.
  • Ensure all required Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) qualifications are current.
  • Solid understanding of welding equipment and accessories.
  • Knowledge of pre-heat and post-heat temperatures and applications.
  • Operate manual flame-cutting equipment.
  • Adjust welding equipment and tooling according to work specifications.
  • Mentor and train apprentices.
Additional Requirements:
  • Must have their own transportation as the location is not accessible via public transportation.
  • Must possess CSA approved safety boots.
  • Welders will need their own gloves and helmet.
  • Safety Tickets: TDG, WHMIS 2015, First Aid.
