Job Summary

The Relief Custodian is a key member of the Government of Northwest Territories team, responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and safety of our facilities. As a Relief Custodian, you will work independently with minimal supervision, ensuring that our schools and buildings are clean, well-maintained, and free from hazards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clean and care for facilities and equipment, including classrooms, hallways, and common areas
  • Ensure that all cleaning procedures are followed, including the use of cleaning chemicals and equipment
  • Read and understand labels and instructions for cleaning products and equipment
  • Work effectively with minimal supervision, using problem-solving and decision-making skills to address any issues that may arise
  • Manage time efficiently to complete tasks and meet deadlines
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and management to ensure that facilities are maintained to a high standard

Requirements

  • Grade 10 education or equivalent
  • Related experience in cleaning and maintenance
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Good time management and communication skills
