Clinical Dietitian, Gastroenterology Care Team Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Dietitian to join our Gastroenterology Care Team at IWK Health. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for the nutritional management of children seen by the team.
Key Responsibilities:- Participate in case conferences and team rounds to ensure comprehensive care for patients.
- Assist in the education of health centre staff, dietetic interns, and affiliating students in normal and therapeutic nutrition.
- Practice in accordance with the mission, vision, and philosophies of the IWK Health Centre.
- Hold accountability to the Professional Practice Leader for issues pertaining to professional Standards of Practice and Ethics.
- Share responsibility with all dietitians to provide caseload coverage throughout the Health Centre, as well as weekend stand-by and call-back coverage as required.
- Bachelor's Degree with major credits in nutrition or dietetics.
- Successful completion of a Dietitians of Canada accredited dietetic internship program.
- Current license to practice with Nova Scotia Dietetic Association, or eligible to obtain a license.
- A master's degree is an asset.
- Previous experience in both inpatient and ambulatory health care settings.
- Previous employment experience as a Clinical Dietitian.
- Experience in pediatrics, nutrition support, and nutritional counseling.
- Previous clinical nutrition experience with the Gastroenterology population preferred.
- Previous experience with parenteral and enteral nutrition preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to critically appraise new evidence and apply findings to practice.
- Teaching experience with a demonstrated ability to develop and deliver clinical education to healthcare providers as well as patients and families on an individual and group basis, both in person and virtually.
- Ability to participate in weekend/holiday calls required.
- Knowledge of other healthcare disciplines and their roles in patient care.
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication (verbal and written) skills.
- Demonstrated excellent time management, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a collaborative, interprofessional team, as well as the ability to work independently.
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to family-centered care.
- Competency in other languages is an asset.
