Job Title: Education Assistant - Behaviour Support and Learning Assistance

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Education Assistant to join our team at School District #62 (Sooke). The successful candidate will provide behaviour support and learning assistance to students with autism and other exceptionalities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of Individual Education Plan goals, objectives, and supports
  • Supervise students within the school, on the playground, and on field trips, including transitioning between activities
  • Assist students during classroom activities and support social inclusion in the classroom and on the playground
  • Objectively observe and record student behaviour, as required
  • Report safety, unusual behaviour, and discipline concerns to the principal or designate
Requirements:
  • Secondary school graduation or equivalent
  • Education Assistant Certification or equivalent in a related field or equivalent experience working with individuals with disabilities
  • Minimum three (3) months of experience working with children
  • Knowledge and understanding of child development
  • Familiarity with Individual Education Plans and Individual Care Plans an asset
Working Conditions:

The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment and may be required to physically assist students using lifts and transfers. The candidate must be able to walk or run, indoors and outdoors, in various weather conditions.
