School Health Professional

We are seeking a skilled School Nurse to join our team at Danbury Public Schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality healthcare services to students and staff, promoting health and wellness, and collaborating with the school community to create a safe and supportive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a member of the school team, providing health-related services and support to students and staff.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive health records, logs, and reports, ensuring compliance with state regulations and school policies.
- Collaborate with parents, students, teachers, and other professionals to interpret health assessments and develop individualized health care plans.
- Supervise the administration of medications and treatments, ensuring compliance with state regulations and school policies.
- Perform vision, hearing, and postural screenings, making referrals and follow-up as needed.
- Provide health education and promotion, including in-service trainings for staff and students.
- Stay current with professional development and state laws related to immunizations, medication administration, and health records.
- Provide emergency care and treatment to injured or ill students and staff.
- Assist families in accessing medical care, health insurance, and other health-related resources.
Requirements:
- Valid State of Connecticut RN license to practice professional nursing.
- BSN preferred, but not required.
- Current CPR certification.
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical nursing experience, preferably in pediatrics and/or community health.
Reports to: Health and Nursing Services Coordinator
Work year: 10-month position. Salary as per contract
