About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Design Manager to join our team at Parkin Architects Limited. As a Design Manager, you will be responsible for leading and managing the design process for smaller institutional and civic architecture projects and renovations.

You will work closely with clients, stakeholders, and project teams to understand project requirements, design goals, and user needs. You will generate creative design concepts and lead design charrettes to explore innovative solutions for each project.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Project Leadership: Lead the design process for smaller-scale institutional and civic architecture projects and renovations from concept to completion.
  2. Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and project teams to understand project requirements, design goals, and user needs.
  3. Design Conceptualization: Generate creative design concepts and lead design charrettes to explore innovative solutions for each project.
  4. Proposal Development: Oversee the development of design proposals, presentations, and visualizations to effectively communicate design ideas to clients and stakeholders.
  5. Project Management: Ensure that design solutions are aligned with project budgets, timelines, and scope while adhering to high-quality design standards.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture or a related field.
  • Experience: 6+ years of experience in architectural design, with a focus on institutional and civic projects in Canada.
  • Portfolio: A diverse portfolio showcasing successful completion of smaller-scale institutional and civic projects.
  • Skills: Proficiency in design software and visualization tools relevant to the industry.
  • Leadership Qualities: Strong leadership qualities and the ability to motivate and inspire design teams.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of articulating design concepts effectively.
