Machinist Specialist

Velocity Machining & Welding Inc is seeking a skilled Machinist Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing various machining tasks, including setting up and operating conventional and computer-controlled machine tools.
About the JobThe successful candidate will have a strong understanding of precision manufacturing principles and practices. You will work independently, ensuring high-quality results while meeting tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
We offer a competitive salary of $**65,000 - 85,000 per year**, depending on experience, plus a range of benefits, including health care, dental, disability, and vision care plans. Additionally, you will receive life insurance, pension plan, and RRSP matching.
About the RoleAs a Machinist Specialist, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Setting up and operating conventional and computer-controlled machine tools;
- Measuring and laying out work pieces in preparation for assembly;
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, charts, and tables;
- Repairing machine tools and parts;
- Fitting and assembling components and machine parts to close tolerance;
- Documenting and reporting deviations from specifications and tolerances;
- Maintaining inspection records and completing inspection reports;
- Verifying dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments.
To be considered for this position, you must have:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in precision manufacturing or a related field;
- A valid driver's license and reliable transportation;
- A certificate or diploma in machinist trade certification (an asset);
- Excellent oral communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
