Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be based out of our Finance department at our Head Office, reporting to our Controller. As a Cost Accountant in our dynamic environment, you will be responsible for financial cost analysis, cost control, and ensuring the accuracy of financial records. The candidate will help the organization control costs and engage in strategic planning to improve cost efficiencies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Purchasing, Production, and Engineering to determine and confirm standard costing rates.
  • Conduct periodic reviews and audits of system rates to actual.
  • Collect and analyze financial data to confirm accuracy of financial processing.
  • Roll out annual standard costs in D365 environment.
  • Review inventory evaluation and generate necessary reporting.
  • Help management make important decisions based on costs and benefits.
  • Monitor changes in processes or methods to calculate effects on overall costs.
  • Estimate product costs for new products.
  • Update system for new products, changes to production, engineering changes.
  • Review and Audit standard costs to actual rates.
  • Review financial processing of standards in general ledger.
  • Review financial reporting of variances (PPV & DL) monthly.
  • Coordinate and calculate annual standards including annual cost roll.
  • Oversee standards for new product as required.
  • Oversee standards for engineering changes.
  • Perform analysis as required by various departments.
  • Prepare monthly inventory reconciliation.
  • Participation in year-end audit.

Requirements and Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA not required, but considered an asset.
  • 3 to 5 years of manufacturing experience in a highly developed ERP system.
  • Solid understanding of cost accounting principles and practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret complex data.
  • Ability to conduct detailed cost analysis and financial modeling.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams to present financial information.
  • Knowledge of D365 is considered an asset.
  • Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy in financial records and reports.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced manufacturing environment and evolving business needs.
