What is the Opportunity?
The Director of Data Risk Audit and Compliance is responsible for conducting data risk audits to assess the effectiveness of data-related controls, accuracy of financial records, efficiency of operations, and compliance with regulatory requirements. This role oversees audit plan management and execution, strategic initiatives, and resource management, as well as oversight of a team of auditors.
The Royal Bank of Canada's Internal Audit Group leverages a unique perspective to deliver valuable advice that not only gives assurance but also illuminates a bigger picture, connects dots, builds best practices, and broadens possibilities. We connect intelligence to protect and enable RBC.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide senior-level support to the Managing Director, Global Head of Data Risk to provide independent, objective assurance over the design and operation of the Bank's global Data Risk management practices, governance processes, and internal controls.
- Oversee audit plan management and execution, strategic initiatives, and resource management in relation to internal audit operations across Enterprise Data Risk operations, including both 1LOD and 2LOD functions.
- Provide oversight and effective challenge on audit activities with a Data Risk audit scope, including audit activities covering centralized Enterprise Data Management functions, Data Domains, 2LOD Data Risk, and business line audits with Data Risk coverage.
- Oversee the completion of annual applicable audit plans for Data Risk and collaborate with broader audit teams to achieve global annual plans.
- Build, direct, counsel, and instruct staff assigned to an engagement and review audit plans, findings, and reports for sufficient scope and accuracy.
- Provide leadership, coaching, performance management, and personal development support.
- Coordinate and manage regulatory requests and examinations with bank regulators and external auditors with respect to Data Risk.
- Develop the capability of the team to use analytic tools to widen the scope of assurance.
Requirements:
- 10-15 years of experience in Data Risk, Data Audit, IT Audit, or a related field such as IT Audit, IT, Risk Management, or General Audit.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional Designation (CDMP, CIA, CPA, CISA, CISSP, CISM)
- Experience working in financial services, consulting, technology, banking, capital markets, wealth management, or global asset management.
