Job Title: Construction General Manager

SYMS Canada is a leading provider of industrial engineering services, specializing in installation and field management for various industrial projects. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Construction General Manager to oversee construction projects and coordinate operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Set company objectives and oversee construction projects to ensure efficient resource utilization and compliance with safety standards.
  • Develop policies, manage budgets, and maintain client relationships to drive organizational success.
  • Formulate or approve policies and programs in line with organizational goals.
  • Authorize and organize the establishment of major departments and associated senior staff positions.
  • Allocate material, human, and financial resources to implement company policies and programs effectively.
  • Establish financial and administrative controls to ensure efficient resource utilization.
  • Approve overall personnel planning strategies to ensure the right talent is in place to achieve company objectives.
  • Select middle managers or other executive staff members who align with company values and goals.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of construction projects across various areas, ensuring alignment with company objectives and client requirements.
  • Monitor project progress to ensure timely completion and adherence to quality standards.
  • Implement effective project management methodologies to optimize efficiency and minimize risks.
  • Develop project budgets and monitor expenses throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Implement cost control measures to ensure projects are completed within budgetary constraints.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards across all projects.
  • Foster positive relationships with clients by providing excellent service, addressing concerns, and ensuring project deliverables meet their expectations.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Over 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering, including production, project/construction management.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a middle manager in construction or project management.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred.
  • Proven track record of overseeing large-scale construction projects from inception to completion.
  • Demonstrated ability to set clear objectives and manage multiple departments.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems and industrial construction methodologies.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools.
  • Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, cost control, and resource allocation.
  • Ability to implement effective project management methodologies and optimize resource utilization.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to mitigate risks.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to negotiate and manage subcontractors and vendors.
