About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Traffic Signals Engineer to join our team at Primary Engineering & Construction. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and delivering electrical, lighting, and traffic signal systems projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Client Relationship Building
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, including business development activities, proposal preparation, and project budgeting.
  • Design and Specification Development
    • Collaborate with clients and internal team members to design and specify electrical, lighting, and traffic signal systems projects.
  • Project Management
    • Lead and contribute to the successful design, production, coordination, and management of electrical, lighting, and traffic signal systems projects.
  • Design and Development
    • Develop power distribution, lighting, and auxiliary systems designs using AutoCAD, AGi32 light software, and/or MicroStation.
  • Technical Reporting
    • Prepare and review technical reports, tender documentation, and field support, including commissioning/site inspection.
  • Quality Assurance
    • Ensure that engineering deliverables comply with applicable regulations, standards, corporate procedures, and sound engineering practices.
  • Team Leadership
    • Direct and mentor junior staff as required.
Requirements
  • Education
    • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering, or a related field with a specialization in traffic engineering.
  • Experience
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in traffic signal design and operations.
  • Licenses and Certifications
    • P.Eng. or eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer in Alberta.
  • Skills
    • Strong working knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Safety Code, Alberta Transportation Standards, and regional traffic design standards.
    • Proficiency with engineering software, including AutoCAD, MicroStation, and AGi32 lighting design software.
