Job Summary


The Vancouver Island Regional Library is seeking a Part-time Library Page employee to work at our Masset Branch.


This role will appeal to high school, home schooled, and university students. The ideal candidate will have good communication skills, be able to complete tasks in a timely manner, and have a proven ability to work with people of all ages.


About the Role


The successful candidate will assist with shelving materials, stacking and sorting materials, shelf reading, pulling materials, tidying, shifting, organizing and facing materials on shelves, and collecting garbage and recycling.


Key Responsibilities



  • Assist with shelving materials and maintaining the library's collections
  • Help with tasks such as stacking and sorting materials, shelf reading, and pulling materials
  • Tidy and organize materials on shelves, including rearranging displays and collections
  • Collect and empty garbage, recycling, and shredding
  • Replenish cartridges, toner, and paper supplies in branch equipment

Requirements

  • Flexibility to work varied hours, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends

Working Arrangements


This is a part-time position working approximately 4-8 hours per week. You will be required to work a varied schedule, which may include morning and afternoon shifts, and some weekend work.


Compensation


The hourly rate for this position is estimated to be between $18-$20 CAD per hour, based on industry standards and location. The total weekly pay will depend on the number of hours worked.
