Job Title: Child Care Professional with Early Childhood Focus

We are seeking a skilled Child Care Professional to join our team at Academics preKindergarten Westwood Inc. as an early childhood educator.

Job Description:

  • This is a full-time position that requires the successful candidate to develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children.
  • The successful candidate will assist early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children.
  • Responsibilities also include engaging children in activities such as telling stories, teaching songs and preparing crafts.
  • The ideal candidate will guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits, as well as prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods.
  • Additionally, the successful candidate will observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians or supervisor.
  • Other responsibilities include attending staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children, establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children, planning and maintaining an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children, and planning and organizing activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A minimum of an Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate is required.
  • Candidates must hold current First Aid and CPR Certificates.
  • A criminal record check and immunization records are mandatory.
