Senior Structural Engineer

At Stantec, we're a community of creative thinkers and problem solvers. We're seeking a highly skilled Senior Structural Engineer to join our Fredericton, NB team.

About the Role

We're looking for a senior member of our structural team to work on projects ranging from small to large. As a Senior Structural Engineer, you'll work with little supervision and direction, supported by a knowledgeable and experienced team. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and directing a team of engineers and technicians on projects or being part of a larger project design team responsible for structural designs and reviews.
  • Acting as lead structural engineer on projects, responsible for project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants.
  • Participating in business development and proposal writing, and leading design teams in the delivery of preliminary and detailed structural analysis and designs for various heavy industrial and power generation structures.
  • Directing the development of a design through engineering calculations, sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.
  • Defining and managing project scope, budget, resourcing, and schedule, and leading the preparation and coordination of project specifications with construction documents.
  • Performing and overseeing calculations using company standard software, and proprietary manufacturer software, and conducting quality assurance and quality control on own projects.
  • Helping identify and drive the development of new standards, specifications, design tools, and procedures for the structural group.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • Extensive knowledge of all phases of project document production.
  • Experience directing and participating in project team settings.
  • Thorough understanding of structural engineering concepts.
  • Experience with industry standard structural analysis software suites.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • A valid driver's license and a valid passport.
  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering with professional engineering registration in Canada.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in structural engineering with a focus on the industrial design.
