As a Registered Nurse with Fraser Health, you will provide direct patient care by assessing, planning, providing, and evaluating nursing care to patients within an outpatient IV setting or a residential care setting or home environment.
Key Responsibilities- Assess patients within an IV therapy setting, collecting information from various sources using observation, communication, data review, and physical assessment.
- Determine whether the patient's condition can be improved or resolved by an appropriate nursing intervention.
- Plan, perform, and evaluate nursing interventions and care.
- Provide IV therapy care, including inserting and maintaining IV lines, initiating IV infusion devices, administering antibiotics/medications, and caring for and monitoring line status.
- Collaborate with patients and their families/caregivers in developing the care plan and encourage family participation in the development, implementation, and ongoing modification of the care plan.
- Establish a therapeutic relationship by demonstrating empathy, trust, and respect, advocating for the patient's rights to privacy, dignity, and access to information.
- Participate in the care and discharge planning process for patients, ensuring the care plan is established and implemented effectively.
- Coordinate nursing care for the patient, setting priorities, assigning, and delegating tasks to support staff, and making referrals to the interprofessional care team according to established protocols and practice standards.
