Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated HVAC Refrigeration Apprentice to join our team at Georgian College. As a key member of our Facilities Management department, you will be responsible for planning, tracking, and installing replacement HVAC filters on our Barrie Campus to ensure compliance with current building standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and develop maintenance plans to ensure the college meets AHRAE standards
  • Develop a layout plan for the timing and scheduling of filter replacements
  • Change HVAC filters on all RTU and heat pump systems
  • Track completion of filter updates by location
  • Independently support gas equipment by performing preventative maintenance, responding to work orders, troubleshooting and diagnosing issues, determining and ordering parts, and repairing equipment
  • Assist in repairs and maintenance of commercial equipment over 400,000 BTU under the supervision of a Journeyman
Requirements
  • Successful completion of a two-year postsecondary diploma in HVAC or HRAC
  • G2 (Gasfitter) certification required
  • Refrigeration & AC Systems Mechanic Apprentice working towards a 313A License
  • A minimum of three years' experience working on commercial equipment (HVAC, Building Automation Systems, etc.)
  • Knowledge of all types of HVAC equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret a schematic
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Working at Heights training is an asset
  • Ozone Depletion Certificate is an asset
