Animal Resource Centre Support Staff

The Animal Resource Centre - ARC, Wash Area Attendant plays a critical role in ensuring the provision of clean, sanitized, and sterilized equipment to the ARC facility. This position requires the safe operation of large industrial cleaning equipment, including rack washers, autoclaves, and bedding disposal equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure the efficient and timely movement of equipment and supplies to the facility.
- Remove dirty and contaminated equipment from the facility.
- Assist in the processing of biohazardous equipment and materials to ensure safe and efficient decontamination and cleaning.
- Maintain appropriate storage facilities for equipment, feed, and supplies, meeting all fire and safety regulations.
- Participate in daily health monitoring of animals and perform animal husbandry and care activities following established standard operating procedures and regulatory requirements (CCAC/OMAFRA).
- Minimum one year previous experience working in a laboratory animal facility.
- Previous experience working with laboratory animals, wash area equipment, and autoclaves.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated understanding of biocontainment and biosecurity.
- Demonstrated knowledge of all specialized machinery (dump station, washers, bedding disposal system, autoclaves).
