Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Culinary Operations Manager to oversee the daily operations of our kitchen at James on Hastings Chinese Restaurant.

About the Role

This is a permanent, full-time position that requires a high level of culinary expertise and leadership skills. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of kitchen staff, ensuring the highest standards of food quality and presentation, and maintaining a clean and safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Chef Management: Supervise and train kitchen staff in preparation, cooking, and handling of food.
  • Kitchen Operations: Plan and implement menus, manage inventory and supplies, and maintain accurate records of food, supplies, and equipment.
  • Food Quality and Safety: Ensure all food is prepared to a high standard and meets health and safety regulations.
  • Cleaning and Maintenance: Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, including equipment and utensils.
  • Staff Recruitment and Development: Recruit, hire, and train new staff members, and provide ongoing training and development opportunities.
Requirements
  • Culinary Qualifications: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate and 1 year to less than 2 years of experience as a chef or in a related field.
  • Skillset: Attention to detail, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, physically demanding, and overtime required.
  • Language: English language proficiency.

Compensation
