Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Actuarial Analyst to join our Commercial Insurance Pricing team at Definity. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing actuarial and commercial insurance product knowledge, as well as analyzing data to inform business decisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain actuarial and commercial insurance product knowledge, including pricing, underwriting, and claims handling.
  • Analyze data to inform business decisions, including profitability analysis, large account review, and deep dive analysis.
  • Communicate complex actuarial concepts to stakeholders, both verbally and in writing.
  • Produce data exhibits and analyses to measure, track, and monitor company and industry performance.
  • Independently respond to routine requests from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Take ownership of medium to large-size projects and lead the technical work of junior analysts or COOPs.
Requirements
  • University degree in a quantitative field, such as Actuarial Sciences, Mathematics, or Statistics.
  • Completion of a minimum of 3 to 5 CAS exams.
  • 2 to 5 years of P&C actuarial experience, with personal or commercial pricing experience being an asset.
  • Strong programming skills in SAS, Python, R, Excel VBA, or any other programming language.
  • Strong Excel skills and efficient use of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
  • Strong data analytic skills and a strong interest in learning new knowledge and skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Able to perform well in a busy operation and remain calm under pressure.
  • Team player, adaptable to a changing and fast-paced environment.

Actual salary for the role may vary depending on work location of the successful candidate and other factors including but not limited to, skills, education, experience, working conditions and the local labour market. In addition to base pay, eligible employees may participate in various incentive plans which are paid out at the discretion of the company and subject to individual and company performance.
