We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse to join our team at PHSA, providing trauma-informed care services to clients in a correctional setting.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct care services to clients with complex mental health and substance use challenges, including physical, psychiatric, and concurrent substance abuse/misuse disorders.
- Conduct thorough assessments, collect specimens, refer clients to physicians for further examination, and administer prescribed treatments and medication according to protocols.
- Observe, monitor, evaluate, and assess client progress, symptoms, and behavioral changes, and document client information accurately.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement treatment plans, and provide education and support to clients and groups on health promotion and disease prevention.
- Maintain accurate records and prepare statistical information, correspondence, and reports as required.
- Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives.
- Two years' recent experience providing trauma-informed care services to clients with complex mental health and substance use challenges.
- Successful completion of Occupational First Aid II (OFA II) or OFA III techniques.
- Working knowledge of community health nursing theory, including mental health and addictions, communicable diseases, and primary care.
- Knowledge of the BC Mental Health Act and other relevant facilities and community resources.
