About the Role:

Shaarei Zion Community Centre is seeking a skilled Maintenance Worker - Building to join our team. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for ensuring the upkeep and maintenance of our building, including tasks such as sweeping, mopping, and cleaning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sweep, mop, and clean hallways, floors, and stairs
  • Operate industrial vacuum cleaners to remove debris and dirt
  • Empty trash cans and other waste containers
  • Wash windows, interior walls, and ceilings
  • Perform minor repairs on appliances
  • Water and tend to plants, lawns, and/or gardens
  • Clean and disinfect bathrooms and fixtures
  • Work with minimal supervision
  • Clean snow and ice from walkways and parking areas

  • Provides physical accessibility accommodations
  • Provides visual accessibility accommodations
  • Provides auditory accessibility accommodations
  • Participates in a government or community program that supports persons with disabilities
  • Offers mentorship and coaching opportunities for persons with disabilities

Support for Newcomers and Refugees:

  • Participates in a government or community program that supports newcomers and refugees
  • Assists with immediate settlement needs of newcomers and refugees
  • Supports social and labour market integration of newcomers and refugees
  • Recruits newcomers and refugees who were displaced by a conflict or natural disaster
  • Supports newcomers and refugees with foreign credential recognition
  • Offers mentorship programs that pair newcomers and refugees with experienced employees

Support for Youth:

  • Participates in a government or community program that supports youth employment
  • Offers on-the-job training tailored to youth
  • Offers mentorship and coaching opportunities for youth
  • Provides awareness training to employees to create a welcoming work environment

Support for Indigenous People:

  • Participates in a government or community program that supports Indigenous people
  • Offers mentorship and coaching opportunities for Indigenous workers
  • Develops and maintains relationships with Indigenous communities and organizations
  • Provides cultural competency training to all employees
  • Facilitates access to Elders who can offer support and guidance to Indigenous workers

Requirements:

  • College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 3 months to less than 1 year
  • 1 to less than 7 months of experience
