Job Title: Emergency Psychiatric Liaison Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Emergency Psychiatric Liaison Nurse to join our team at Fraser Health Authority. As a key member of our interprofessional care team, you will play a vital role in providing person-centered and recovery-oriented care to patients in the Emergency Department and Mental Health/Substance Use Zone.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform psychosocial assessments and collect collateral information to develop care plans for patients with psychiatric needs.
  • Collaborate with Emergency Department Nurses, other emergency service providers, and the interprofessional community mental health team to adapt care plans and ensure effective patient flow.
  • Provide direct psychiatric nursing care, including crisis intervention and counseling, to patients and their families.
  • Document assessments, care plans, and patient outcomes according to practice standards and Fraser Health procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to promote person-centered care and advocate for special populations.
Requirements:
  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing and current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives.
  • One year recent related experience in an acute or community Mental Health & Substance Use setting, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Ability to complete initial and ongoing mental health and substance use patient assessments and provide nursing care through appropriate technical, therapeutic, and safety interventions.
  • Knowledge of mental illness and substance use treatment, psychopharmacology, and legislation and government policies related to mental health and substance use practices.
