We are currently seeking a Senior Geological Specialist to join our Cold Lake Thermal team in Calgary. If you are driven by challenges and are enthusiastic about both personal and professional development, Strathcona could be the right fit for you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Craft play maps and depositional models for drilling sites.
  • Interpret geological cross-sections for model development.
  • Examine formation maps to assess reservoir characteristics.
  • Employ various analyses for SAGD reservoir characterization.
  • Contribute to the optimization of recovery and well operations.
  • Support well placement and drilling activities.
  • Produce geological prognoses.
  • Experience in planning directional wells.
  • Engage in reserves evaluation and development strategies.

Required Qualifications:

  • At least 8 years of geological experience, with a minimum of 5 years in Thermal SAGD projects.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Geology.
  • Active APEGA membership in good standing.
  • Thorough understanding of the WCSB depositional history.
  • Meticulous attention to detail in log analysis and interpretation.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Capability to excel in a collaborative team environment.
  • Proficient computer skills with geological software.
  • Familiarity with clastic depositional systems and Mannville stratigraphy.

Work Environment:

  • This position is based at Strathcona's Calgary office.
  • Some travel for fieldwork and core storage may be necessary.
