Job Description
Maintenance Technician - Shop Operations
We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team at the School of Trades and Transportation. As a key member of our shop operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the maintenance and upkeep of our facilities, including equipment, tools, and other assets.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, including repairs, replacements, and upgrades of equipment and tools.
- Conduct regular safety inspections to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
- Assist with the setup and display of special events and exhibits.
- Support faculty with lab and pre-lab organization, including preparation and cleanup of workshop demonstrations.
- Supervise the Pipe and Industrial Mechanic shops during service periods.
- Assist with training opportunities for students and provide guidance on safe working practices.
- Maintain inventory control and order materials as needed to support curriculum requirements.
- Ensure compliance with shop safety and quality control requirements.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Qualifications and Occupational Experience:
- College diploma or certificate in a related discipline, such as Industrial Mechanic, Plumber, Pipefitter, or Welder.
- Minimum 3 years (full-time equivalent) of recent and related occupational experience.
- Training in WHMIS and Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
- Standard First Aid and CPR Certificate or willing to obtain.
- Familiarity with computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite and email.
- Ability to work in a digital environment and adapt to new technologies.
